But no doubt the first few days will feel like I'm living out Rihanna's CKB song when Gamer is at his convention. Oh well, more time for this kitty to play! Meow.

It's been two and a half months since my last awesome post. Where in the world have you been? Well I was busy with Fashion Week late Sept - have never walked so much in a day of my entire life on 4 inch heels. Checking out the models, loitering in cafes & mingling with Samantha Hayes. Okay not really, I just gave her direction to her seat at a show. So much for a highlight - we don't really have any star celebs here do we??? Nope. And I'd wish they made the venue a little more, how would you say - exciting?! The weather didn't help - whenever one crosses the pontoon to get back into the city you were almost guaranteed a tidal hit of water, wind & bird crap. I don't have any proper photos to show because I suck at taking pics especially during the twentyseven-names show, all I got was whitewash glow on the runway! Not view worthy.

And did you also know (because I didn't) that there were cherry blossom trees in Cornwall Park? So I rounded up the gang and we staged our own picnic under the cherry trees. It was magical. The skies were blue & we spent over 4 hours there, eating, talking, laughing & checking out cute pups. Bliss.

Gamer got tickets for a special screening of Resident Evil: After Life in 3D. I'm not huge on the franchise so wasn't expecting much. But the 3D effects were fantastic especially in a non-animated film and although the storyline and dialogue was cheesy, Milla Jovovich remained stunning at all times. Ali Larter added her two cents into the film and did I mention the 'Oohs' and 'Ahhs' when Wentworth Miller appeared? I giggled a bit in my mind, gamer was nearby. At least I got my ice-cream and popcorn, it was enough to keep me put for 90+ minutes.

I might have other news in the loop, actually I DO OMG HOW CAN I FORGET??? No can't tell yet - not until next year anyway. Keep on guessing.

I made this concoction because a.) I wanted something sweet and b.) I wanted to use up the last drops of soda water in the fridge. Colours were divine and it tasted surprisingly okay.

Also thanks to the support I've been getting from friends and family, I am back on track! No more swerving in different directions. I gotta concentrate woman!

You. That's who. My little blog!

So here's the goss. Le Faire is on track and I've been told several heart warming stories from my customers that have indeed touched my heart. They've made me realized that deep inside, I'm still human and not some cold whining robot.

Lately my media bug is trying to wiggle its way back in. I've been tempted one two many times to do something about it but I reminded myself that I can't just yet, not until the business is running steadily and since it's only been 2 months or so it's too soon!

I've actually given myself a break this week to coincide with gamer's holiday. We had intended to escape to somewhere warmer but missed the boat on that one. Goldcoast, I bid adieu til next time!! Oh and I still haven't seen Sex and the City 2 yet, haven't had time to watch it so I'm gonna drag him along to see it with me hehe. He already watched Confessions of a Shopaholic so why not!!

By the way, the one thing that I've noticed that's practically missing from my life are those narcissistic photos I use to take. Everyone takes them so those who pretend they don't are liars. So I'm going to make it a must every week to take a few or so... hehe. My arms haven't seen the light of day since last summer when I was severely burnt at my cousin's wedding.....

Oh and if you ever want to become a popular fashion blogger remember to find yourself a really good photographer boyfriend first. It's a prerequisite otherwise you'll end up taking shoddy pictures like me and that just won't do, will it??

Btw I had such a wonderful time at a friends last weekend, she played the perfect hostess serving us yummy drinks, delicious tapas and a smorgasbord of cakes & desserts. We watched 10 mins of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Killers, 5 mins of soft porn & Anthony Bourdain's culinary adventures. Talked about weddings, bags, blood and everything else. I'm still dreaming of that cheesecake and amazingly she converted me to her Jamie Oliver lamb chops....and I don't like lamb. Ahh I must return the favour soon!!

Sad but oh so true.

Have you ever bought clothes that looked fantastic on a model but was completely blah on you? Don't deny it, I can sympathize. If you knew what your body type was you'd know better right? So I was hunting down a pair of corset shorts from Alexander Wang, mind you I thought they looked pretty sexy on this size 6 model and as a spur of the moment, I was tracking it down like a hound. At over USD$700 price point I wasn't going to part with my cash but the sheer thought of seeing it on the browser made it so worthwhile. I came across a pair (well more like a photo) of it in Opening Ceremony and I applaud them for using size 8 models - I really do but then it hit me, those shorts just didn't look as hot anymore. The bulges were all in the wrong places and it dawned on me that this gorgeous piece should always be (no exception) worn on a size 6 (note this is the smallest woman's size in Australasia). And size 8 is equivalent to a small over here.

So finally I've decided to give up on owning a pair of these lovelies and direct my funds to a more needy cause (a holiday fund!)....

Goddam morning flights!

I'm officially awake at 3am in the morning thanks to gamer's early morning flight.

After having a quick course of vegemite toast & tea, it was off to the airport. Did I mention that NZ roadworks are atrocious in the wee hours of the morning? Detours here followed by detours there.....

I'm not necessarily complaining (i am) but does the council have cone quotas they have to meet every month? BECAUSE ALL I EVER SEE no matter what hours of the day ARE TRUCKS PUTTING OUT ORANGE CONES neatly of course and they don't seem to have any significance because the roadies aren't doing any work.

Take yesterday for example, around 11am. Driving to the airport (yeah again) jams all the way thanks to roadworks & the never ending sites (haha punning it) of the orange cones. Drove past 20 or so roadies while uttering silent curses and seeing that yet again, they stand there and do nothing but chat chat chattery chat. What they were fixing remains a mystery....until this morning!

Back to my drive back to the airport at 3am, I drove past the same spot and WOAH, I see that the 20 roadies were actually fixing up a hole. A 2m by 2m hole on the sidewalk which took 20 people............so each person would have been working on a 10cm x 10 cm area for the time they were there. Well done guys, I'm proud of you.

So I would unofficially like to declare Auckland as The City of Cones! Has a nice ring to it.

Yes, I tried it. It wasn't that bad but the cherry punch does linger longer than the fuzz....Notice Pocky for Men in the background? I didn't know they created a separate pack for guys, but why? Is it too shameful to eat pocky from the pink and red boxes?? Oh well I impaled that box in one go. Men that!

And I started reading again! CS4 is down so I couldn't flip the image but I've just finished Michael Tonello's autobiography 'Bringing Home the Birkin'. It's a great pick up and read kind of book, laden with quick-witted humour, heartwarming hits of reality & his journey to discovering that secret, not to mention a more indepth look into the most coveted purse (as he calls it) in the world, the Hermes Birkin.

And yeah basically when I'm working through the night, my DS is always ready for some button smashing action! Miss Geek is playing Pokemon Heart-Gold, I gotta catch them all!!

After months and months of planning, prep & research, rejections and cold calling, designing & retouching etc etc - the site is finally up and running! I'm quite proud of what we've achieved so far! Have heard people say, oh it's just a website how hard can it be to start one up? I agree it's easy but being a perfectionist at heart, every minute detail is considered and reworked until everything is top notch and professional. I guess I want my customers to feel like they're visiting an international site in a way, more appeal in that sense.

The labels are hand picked from local and abroad! Ones that have yet to make to our shores so it's very exciting for everyone! I believe that we all have our own style so rather than dictate I like the notion of carrying individual pieces that they can be worked into our wardrobe or to complete a certain look for that season. But I also know that there are those who like to be guided in one form or another, so there will be a section dedicated to giving styling tidbits.

Some things are better left forgotten

Enough said, I wasted a few minutes of my life trying to remember the name of this girl from high school. She is a model and I accidentally came across one of her campaigns. She was absent from class probably 90% of the time, maybe that's why I can't remember her name!!! Anyway so I started retracing steps blah blah as you do and then it dawned on me. What was the whole point of this exercise? Nothing, you're just in stalker mode.

I'm sure most people have had that experience, when you come across something that triggers a memory and you try your hardest to recall but with no avail, then you are bothered by it and this whole thing keeps nagging your mind for the next minute or two until you find another subject to occupy yourself with. Ahhh human nature, it's wonderful.

Note to self: A few things that are really annoying me right now!

Gamer shouting obscenities at the game characters while deeply engaged in boss battle. He shouts "^%$ this is getting really boring $#T" but still manages to play for another few hours..men!
Unhelpful biatch from my bank. Don't get me started, someone should fire her fat ass please.
Slow broadband! Are they doing this on purpose? Is Telecom purposely controlling the speed so the public will vote for fibres to be installed? ARGHHH loading videos are too bloody slow these days, it was better in the 'olden' days.
Cold weather. We're only in the middle of autumn and today I had on my topshop tee, layered with gamer's tekken hoodie and wrapped in my pink polka dot woollen robe and finally fingerless gloves to match that awesome brother sharp look. Common, why is it so damn cold!!!!!! Apparently it will be the coldest winter this year and I believe them, so make sure you're stocking up on layers and invest in a warm coat or jacket - you need it.

Trust my shorts, I don't complain that often.

I'm in desperate need of a phone. Even though my search began a few months ago, you see I had my eyes set on the Nokia E71 and I was about to buy it however an unexpected detour that day proved critical and I ended up with an iMac instead.

So with my funds running on empty, I've decided to set myself up with a mobile kitty and start adding dosh to it every week until I have enough..... thank god for red pockets and random spare change huh...

By the way Gamer bought me Pokemon HeartGold for my DS, um I'm pretty sure that was to get me addicted so I can leave him alone when he plays his God of War 2. Well he succeeded. I'm officially a Pokemon geek at my very young age!

So I'm off to catch them all!

Neglected!!

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I do feel a slight guilt for neglecting you over the past few weeks. As you know I've been busy finalizing the project and it's all coming together...I think we'll get to see the end results in a matter of days, fingers crossed. So I promise that I'll blog a little more when the time comes!

In the meanwhile maybe you'll appreciate that it's my birthday today :) Yes I am another year younger and nonetheless wiser but no doubt still the little old reckless me. I spent a lovely day having lunch with my parents followed by a night of mayhem involving a mannequin, heaps of clothes and one camera..yeah that's how my birthday went down! Gamer also bought me a big bouquet which he had sent in the morning..awwww!! Feeling spoilt already.

Anyway I'm thinking whether I should be attending the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week this year, I've been given the okay to attend which is pretty exciting but it'll coincide with the opening weeks of my boutique so I'm slightly hesitant. Will have to see.

But here's something I prepared earlier just for you :)

I had a lovely birthday brunch date with the kids at Circus Circus cafe in Mt Eden (stupid blogger won't allow a big pic without cutting out half the pic...arggghhhh so have to compensate with a smaller photo)

It looks perfect on my new desk so it was meant to be. But seeing this is my first mac I'm coming to terms with learning all the new quick keys and what I can't do etc etc but it'll be okay, I'm a fast learner.

Just another day at work.

It's rather refreshing not having to work indoors for a change! Thank goodness for portability these days. I remember working out on the deck back at my old work but the laptop battery died on me, so it was back to serving desk time.

Which reminded me of story. A few years ago I was dealing with a rep from certain car mag in the states (' _ _ _ ' ends in W). He was probably in his 50's, very laid back and not very forgiving when it came to negotiating but boy did he know how to enjoy his work day. On one occasion he rang and we started chatting about specs and industry stuff, this lead onto a friendly convo about where he was calling from. Oh just on my yacht down in Manhattan he said; No wonder I replied, referring to background sounds of water & bells! It's great over here, the sun is shining and everyone's out - You must come for a visit when you're in New York! Hehe don't mind if I do :) Wish I had my own boat.

I think we'll all benefit from working outside an office environment (if that's what you do) every now and then. Of course it'll come down to whether your boss has enough trust in you to go wander! But remember to ask for a laptop rather than a desktop, it's more convenient should the option arise..

I missed Prada, couldn't stay up to watch it live stream but wasn't too fussed but I caught up with Burberry's clip from earlier this week and I was gob-smacked! I'm so in love with Burberry right now...thanks to the talented Christopher Baily and his team, gosh gosh I'm so excited :) The reverse shearlings, knee-high pencils, boots that'll last me a lifetime and the coverage of their F/W2010-11 woman's collection via 3D broadcast was truly innovative for a fashion house (this technology was used mostly by bands e.g. Tokio Hotel). Now I get the feeling that live streaming is overrated compared to this, too bad we won't be seeing any of this here just yet. You could also order directly off the runway within a 72 hour window from the Burberry site - one thing which caught my attention was using video instead of static to showcase each product ...hmm if only our internet speeds were fast enough to accommodate then I could probably use it!

I stayed up to watch it 'live' but had the feeling it wasn't....but still it was close enough. I've quickly put together a montage of stills from my laptop (ignore the fuzz). The start was a bit blah but it got more interesting as the show progressed. I wasn't convinced about the pieces at the start especially with that ghastly pattern - I've seen them plenty of times at the snow store, so I didn't include them below. But what I loved was the overall charm the collection delivered, the belting of the scarf was cool, furry boots are back, the black bows were reminiscent from children of the corn (creeps) but wearable and the light silk & woolly combo worked well. I've dotted the ones I would definitely wear...

My pedigree in media & advertising meant that I've always been somewhat surrounded by creative beings and number crunchers - the best combo in my books. Thus I've never truly needed to invest my time into the world of business/finance/trade/markets and all it's ins & outs, well I knew enough to sound interesting. But seeing I'm starting my own biz, I have developed a natural taste in this area thus have Forbes.com neatly bookmarked under interesting reads. Spending up to 2 hours trolling through the stories and archives in the early hours of the morning is another milestone I would like to call 'reaching another level of wise'.

Which got me thinking, if I ever tried that on gamer I'd have a big fat FAIL next to my name - I would totally knock him to the floor and shatter his pelvis in the process --____--!

So while not the most romantic of moves to try on your boyfriend unless you're half his height, in which case you're more likely to succeed in latching onto his thigh or chest. The other possibility of completing such feat would mean you're a feather weight so no matter how skinny or short he is, he won't feel a thing :) But since we don't fit any of these criteria's I will have to make do with just the JUMP and HUG minus the running.

Gamer will be back from Oz tomorrow, so it'll be the best time to test this out hohoho!

Guilty as charged...

I had one of those telling off sessions today, felt like a child being told off by her parents again! Gamer had bought the Wii Fit Plus for me so I could start exercising from home rather than paying thousands to Les Mills and after the skiing accident, I'm wasn't exactly gym friendly. Was so ecstatic with my new toy and committed to a few months on the board! It provided hours of fun and did at least 50 minutes on it once (no, that was bout the only time hehe). I tried everything on the menu and trust me it was definitely working - you could feel the burn and muscle pain the following day.

Anyway since I've started working on my project, it's been gathering dust and Gamer found out......hence the telling off! Feeling very guilty because I was indeed a slack off, blame my lazy genes - I have it! Therefore had promised him that from today (or next week rather) I will start using it again every second day :)

I understand where he's coming from, it's more about being fit than loosing weight so yeah - mind you Gamer is a gym freak, he works out everyday on his total gym for at least 2 hours so don't think I'll ever be able to compete on that level, ever. But he did mention something about bowflex and that I'm going to be joining him when he gets it..uh oh!

Still haven't worn these boots out yet, got em in Tokyo last year! Waiting for Winter to come so I can dish it out of the closet :)

To redesign my header to celebrate the new year, how bout it? Hopefully this will motivate me to write a bit more this year.

While procrastinating the other day I thought hmm what sort of goals should I set for myself this year? We're only a month into the new decade so better make it good! My mumma once said "girl, when you hit your late twenties it's pretty much downhill from there". Ha! Maybe for the ladies back then but we all know that the thirties are the new twenties, so I am looking forward to it in a few years time (possible denial but who gives a kook).

So I've filtered down to 5 easily achievable goals for twenty-ten.

Launch my business :)
Get a new hairstyle
Buy my dream house
Write a novel or movie script
Go back to Tokyo!

You gotta aim high or suffer the lows!

Looking a bit pudgy there but please don't judge, I love my food!!

Also a bit down right now....I made a promise to my little self that I would be in Paris to watch TH's concert in April but...but...I don't think I can go now due to 'other' commitments :( Bummer.

Happy belated new year!! It's a new decade filled with dreams and goals, my advice? Don't wimp out now - you have to pursue it for sure!

I'm looking forward to it but have fallen ill from working so many late nights. It's not easy running your own business and the start up stage especially is draining....nearly there I guess. If only I can fast track but there's no such thing in life - every challenge is a learning curve, every obstacle is a blessing and what more the end result is something we can be proud of.

I'm suppose to be having a holiday before I start my project but it seems my enthusiasm has gotten the best of me. The office is finished - took less than a day which was great thanks to those who supported and helped. I'm getting right into it. I realized that it isn't that hard - the only hard part is the doing and when I should do x or y? It's the chicken or the egg scenario, I might just throw both into a hat and take cue from that. I think once the one of the two is sorted, it'll be all go from there!

Ha, yeah O for obsession. I'm easily obsessed with things which makes me the perfect consumer really. See a can of coke - want a can of coke. Kind of like monkey see monkey do scenario, except in my case, it's slightly more serious.

Take 15 minutes ago, I saw something on Youtube which fascinated me instantly. As a result I'm prompted to search google, search facebook and look up whatever search engine is available - taking pretty much 10 mins of my life away just to do some useless searching on a small insignificant subject which at that moment seemed pretty INTERESTING. Wow that's pretty much how we work these days isn't it? Thanks to the internet my stalker instincts are fulfilled with ease, nice.

Reality is, we're all curious about the world and the people who live in it. Therefore I would discourage the use of 'stalking' and replace it with 'curiousity' depending on context.

That's my blah for today - didn't seem to have much to say except confirm the fact I am a curious creature *cough* stalker*cough*.....

Oh oh, and isn't it great that we can watch up to the minute eps from shows around the world that will never air in your own country? Love it (watching a new Taiwanese drama called 'Hi, My Sweetheart', it's quite funny too - it's on air over in T land at the mo, currently into it's second ep).

I'm loving Witchery's latest silver jewellery range. Not only are they gorgeous but $5 from each purchase goes to fund the ovarian cancer research. Check out the collection here. I did my part and bought this beaded bracelet, it's absolutely stunning for Spring/ Summer and it'll also make for the perfect gift.

Also in planning mode for my Euro getaway next year, so must start saving now! I think the best advice will be.. 'out of sight, out of mind'. Avoiding temptations = less impulsive buys except when it's for a good cause of course!

I've always loved the colour red~! My first pair of heels were red, although only soaring a little under 1 inches - it probably would have made Dorothy and her ruby shoes proud. I also have a red laptop, red mug, a red rose painting from my cuz and a new owner of a red lippie. Which inspired me to draw another naked chick! I'm not a nudist but adore the beauty of naked anatomies (think Michaelangelo's David). I missed out on the illustration class - was too late and didn't have time to submit my form, damn time!! Oh well, hopefully next year.

Must I say, I'm finally seeing light at the end of this tunnel! Feeling refreshed and positive about life. Well apart from the lingering aches and pains from the injury! We've settled on a date for our trip to Europe..hopefully TH will be touring! I'd love to see them live - have been listening to their new album everyday and it's just amazing, the boys have done such a great job.

Just got back from one of D's industry events, got to play EyePet, the little guy is so cute - he interacts with you on screen while you move and pat him through the eyetoy. You can even draw his toys and it'll come to life in his virtual world, no doubt this function will get abused but it's so cool to see it in action....

JB released Humanoid a day before the official NZ release...paid an extra $8 but it was worth it. My favourites so far on the album...World behind my wall, Pain of Love, Dark side of the Sun and Automatic. I'm sure I'll grow to love the others too after I hear it a couple more times.

Another impulse purchase! WAHHH? Yeah, the local had a camera sale so thought it was about time to upgrade and focus on what's important in life, capturing special moments minus the blurr! Justified right? So I got myself an Olympus 12MP camera with 26x zoom, nice. When it comes to photography my talents are next to nothing, totally crap which is a major blow since my gramps is an award winning photographer back in the day! So I'll have to take it one step at a time thus I'm going to focus on macro shots for the time being... easy now tiger, still early days!!

So I skiied for the first time at SnowPlanet a few days ago (it's the closest thing you get to the real stuff around here). After several attempts to walk in the snow with ski's on, I made my way up to the top. I did tumble at first but I flew down the slope like a pro! So I thought. The second time, I went just a little too fast. SO FAST that I plummeted on my bottom and managed to smack every part of my body onto the snow before coming to a halt a few meters down. Since it wasn't the real stuff, the snow was more like ice hence the harder than normal impact. Having landed face down, I stayed there for a few seconds to recoup before feeling excruciating pain in my tail bone. Luckily a few good souls came and helped me! So finally had my x-ray taken after the severity of my muscle pains this morning! And surprise surprise my coccyx aka tail bone was dislocated, almost broken off from the boss spine! Seeing my insides was a tad gross...eww. So it'll take 6 weeks to heal and I won't be able to sit, drive or exercise unless I'm all drugged up with painkillers. Resting is the best solution according to the doc. But sitting down these days is a painful task! Sadness.

What do you mean little lady? What exactly is the 'life' we're after? I guess we're always searching, never quite content, oh the grass is always greener on the other side; trying to achieve beyond expectations, aim for higher grounds - yup we'll never be satisfied, that's just the human psyche. Nevertheless this never ending quest for final zen has undoubtedly changed our lives once and for all! Otherwise we wouldn't have gone into space or upgraded from a horse & carriage; we'll still be stuck on dial up and we'll never be able to shop online or update our status to the rest of the world! (Actually this reminds me of an ad I saw which precisely communicated the above but the message was so powerful that I had forgotten what they were trying to sell)....

Speaking of ads, I love Louis Vuitton's latest ad! It had a real raw yet nostalgic presence about it. The caption is ridiculously tiny!! It reads "Celebrate their odyssey into space"... they used real astronauts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apollo's journey to the moon hence probably why I believed in it. Ahh the power of patriotism spreads far and wide (even if you're not an American)

So I'm thinking of whether to take a short course over Spring to take my mind off work. In dire need of balance. There are two elements to the course - fashion illustration or figurative drawing. I was hoping the latter would use nudes to reference off, but this is doubtful although the editorial trend at the moment is exactly that. Nudity, to grace their lovely covers! Anyway since Garance Dore is such an inspiration, I think fashion illustration is my pick :) who knows I might make a career out of it one day! Oh I feel the 'power' of optimism flowing through my tiny veins! It's just what we need to keep us alive and kicking, like the Energizer bunny without the annoying drums.

So I was trying to stay away from certain sites when I thought, hey what the heck I'll surf Topshop since they don't deliver to NZ. I've been a fan since 2007 when I was in KL but was disappointed when they had no plans to open up here in NZ. I even posted a letter to TS asking them to consider..yes a die hard fan indeed. Anyway so I was surfing and then something caught my eye.....behold...

THEY DELIVER TO NZ! Someone at HQ must have read my letter. Thanking myself kindly I am reminded that I must start saving again. At least I know if I need to, it'll be there..just one click away. What would I do without the internet?!

Have you ever noticed how guys talk to each other? They seem to have their own unique language - add in a few grunts, slurs and the conservation is set in motion. It's not bizarre, just fascinating. Maybe I need to have an audio check but the last time I was stuck between a few guys deep in a convo, I couldn't understand a single word they were saying (I'm sure it was in English though!) it sounded like this ''Yeah you &6574hf 3764h euih hfdjk sjfh skfwe..haha''. D's cousin knows how to relax, at just 5 years old he is an absolute connoisseur in the art of relaxation. He would lie down with both hands rested behind his head and one leg comfortably placed on top of the other. "Come relax" he says! Well my routine includes a cosy blanket, a few fashion mags and a box of Ferrero...all while surfing on my trusty Vivienne Tam...sheer relaxation!

I'm also looking forward to my new ride this Saturday! After 9 years with my lil baby Ford Festiva, it was time to say goodbye and hello to big bro Beamer! hoho more pics to come....

The NZ International Film Fest starts in a few days

I can't wait! Mostly because I get to watch Anna Wintour in The September Issue on the big screen. I'm definitely a fan of hers, especially fond of her courage and undeniable passion for the fashion industry and to Vogue. This R.J Culter documentary follows Anna and the Vogue team as they compile their annual September issue, which is renoun to be bumper in size. Being in the industry, this definitely has a stronger appeal to me...but fingers crossed it'll be a good one!

The other films on my list to watch is Pony o, I think this film will no doubt turn into another Hayao Miyazaki classic! The theme song is so cute and catchy! Not sure if the American dubbed version, which isn't released till August in the States will have the same essence...will wait and see.

And finally I'm setting a date to watch Coco avant Chanel (Coco before Chanel) which tells of her journey and transformation into the fashion icon we know today, directed by Anne Fontaine. Better scrub up on my French incase there's no subbies!

Oh oh and another event to look forward to and is getting me very very very excited, is Cirque De Soleil this week!! Thanks to the best ever person in the world who should remain unnamed just in case~! But he's the coolest by miles!

Cirque was amazing, there was so much talent and skill throughout, it really had me on the edge of my seat. Drallion is a much watch for those who haven't seen it! 5 stars plus!

Well didn't get to watch Coco because it was sold out!! Missed Ponyo because I slept in. But went to watch The September Issue. It was a full house that night, never have I seen so many ladies and chickies cram the Civic lobby..it was females ahoy! The docu-movie delivered in my opinion. It ensured just the right balance of Anna and Grace Coddington (the fiery but lovable CD at Vogue), giving us insights into the day to day stress, relationships and accomplishments these ladies and their team go through to produce the years biggest issue!! I'll definitely be adding this to my collection when it comes out on DVD (and Coco avant Chanel!!)

What the heck, I also went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Since I'm lazy and I'd rather watch the film and read Wiki than the book..I had anticipated somewhat a climax to who this Half Blood Prince was...and when I finally found out, I felt slightly cheated! But hey the overall plot was great and I enjoyed the 2 and half hours or so worth of dark magic, romance and adventure!

It's been a very wet weekend so far! Just came back from running out and about in the rain. Not that I have a strange water fetish...no not at all..more like Sunday arvo errands (yes quite boring indeed) Oh how I wish it'll clear up, I guess that's why it's called pre-winter weather here.

I'm learning French and Japanese at the same time through my DS, it's quite interactive and I must say some words are definitely here to stay. The last time I took the two languages were during high school, needless to say I've forgotten it all. I can count to ten, say all the key colours, months of the year and days of the week in French. Need to practise so when I reach Paris next year I'm well prepared!! Or if I don't I'll just take my DS along and converse through it~!

Funny enough I watched this local documentary on the New Zealand accent last night. A combo of early settlers from diverse Euro backgrounds mixed with the laxed nature of locals resulted in what is known as the Kiwi accent today. We were also influenced to some extent by television where majority of pre-1970's presenters held tightly to their BBC roots providing the rest of NZ with the formal British twang. Roll in some Maori lingo and voila... here we are. A family friend from Australia once told me I had a British accent which I found fascinating since the Brits think we sound Australian. Oh well...that's why they're called accents.

If you've ever seen a hamster stuff it's cheeks with food then you'll understand the term of being a fashion hamster! I'm always on the hunt for a good bargain but with every great find, they get stored in the closet as if being kept for a rainy day. Don't know why that is.

But in my never ending quest to save our economy, I picked up this little cutie today! My downsizing have come at a price, the bubble style bag is so small - I'm limited to a wallet, keys, phone, ipod and makeup bag! No more junk which could be a good thing! I think I'll go do some more good sale hunting tomorrow if weather permits!!

Thanks to a certain American Idol finalist, I stumbled across a very talented band called..TOKIO HOTEL! At first like so many, I thought they were Japanese but as it turns out these boys hail from Germany and has been a success in Europe and the US! Loved their music so much that I went to *buy* not download, their album! (at full price). The boys write and sing in German then translate word for word for their English Album, so it doesn't loose the meaning. My favourite? Bill Kaulitz of course..and no I'm not a big fan of 'twincest' like so many (he and the lead guitarist are identical twins) but their songs did inspire my doodles below hehe... you can search for them in Youtube, I recommend 'Monsoon' and '1000 Oceans' which are my favourite!

Who has neck fat these days?

Okay besides babies and the severely heavy peeps. Well I certainly didn't until this morning. There I was yawning and scratching my back simultaneously when I felt not one but two rolls of skin on the nape of my neck (how did I know this word?!!). So I examined it further...it was undoubtedly neck fat. Small deposits of fatty tissue that has made it's way onto the back of my neck!! An easy check would be to arch your head back, when running the fingers across the nape take note the number of skin rolls.. more than two and you have neck fat. Congrats. Must do more balance to reduce this before it spreads!! I'm not overweight by the way just a little pudgy.

The ambience was perfect and having hundreds of paper cranes dangle across the room just gave it that much more character!

What a sucky hairdresser!

Just because a hair salon is well known and award winning, it doesn't give them the right to be arrogant, sloppy and outright rude to it's customers. What a shame I will never go back again!

I won a voucher for a blow wave and cut at a salon starting with "S" (it doesn't deserve my acknowledegment) in Ponsonby. Went in and found out that the girl had booked me in for a blow wave??? Obvious mistake one.

Then the stylist proceeded to splash water over my face when she was washing my hair. HELLO, if you can't wash someones hair properly I had doubts about her cutting skills. After she tried to make a series of pointless conversations which I gladly responded in two word sentences (I was a little pissed at the unprofessionalism already) she started to cut.... and for those who have been to a proper salon for layering, you'll know that a layered cut takes a lot of thinning and slicing. The stylist will take time in perfecting the layers...mine? hohoho was a 10 minute blunt cut, no slice or dice. Yeah if that is what S calls a layer cut, then good riddens. If you frequent this Ponsonby parlour.. then my advice is to find another one. S sucks!

Maybe because I had a voucher??? Well they probably didn't think twice that this person could be turned into a frequent client....too bad. I'm going back to Blu Blu for my cuts. And seriously people $100 to have a shit cut like mine is so not worth it.

After I left, they called me and asked if I could go back because they forgot to ask for the voucher! haha shame. I said I'd post it to them. I'm not stepping foot anywhere near S so they can suck lemons. Bunch of nitwits!

Ahh it feels good after my rant...

Rekindling my romance

As you can see from the time, it's bloody early in the morning. And for those that know me know that it takes six elepants and four pandas to wake this little chick up!

I went to the gym on Thursday! Finally no detouring after work. The balance class was so intense my body is still sore which is probably the sole reason I'm awake this early!!

Yesterday was very exciting for me. Why? I had my first dress fitting! Oh dear lord, the dress looked absolutely beautiful. The cute lady had the bustier and waist wrap made lower than the sample so my itsy bitsy waist could be shown off in full glory!! Oh and I discovered the dress hook which allowed me to maneover between cars, toilets and strip joints without staining the train! Absolutely fabuloso. Oh and I bought a matching veil without consulting my budget first. It's pretty pissed off. But oh well, at least it matches I say!

Um yes too much blabbering and not enough writing! I was reading my old blog entries this morning from my prehistoric site and it made me realised how fun it was to write! Back in the day meaning 2 years ago!

It rekindled my diary entry spirit that also served it's purpose as a reminder for this exact reason! Do you get me?

So as a token of my appreciation for all good things to come (sore right wrist suddenly!! ow ow ow!) I will endure a month long entry marathon starting very soon... this will note down all my bridezilla moments, work dramas, money worries, secret admirers and what nots! hehe shall I break any rules and cheat my way out of this marathon, I will break the bank and donate dosh to http://www.witchery.com.au/ for some unnecessary punishment on my wallet. Start date tbc.

Oh and also for the sake of reading this entry 5 years down the line (hi to my future beautiful self) grandpa and nana have braved their fears of flying (mainly nana) to come attend my wedding!!!!! After days of backwards and forwards of thoughts to come or not to come, begged my question of whether they would ever come before their tickets expired! And so to see them get off that delayed plane made me realise how much they loved me to overcome that fear!!! OHHHH I felt the love indeed, I LOVE YOU both!!! tears of joy and salty cheeks.

I'm working on a new piece at the moment. I call it "Moonlight Tui" (haha I just gave it a name, it's not final) but haven't touched it since July...blah some people have day jobs! Maybe I'll whack out the brushes this weekend.

One of my favourite artists at the moment is Audrey Kawasaki. Her work is simply stunning, her use of muted palettes and the perfect blends of oils & graphite on wood are just amazing. I so want to attend her next exhibition (unfortunately it's in Rome..sad)

Oh and being a big fan of Mike H, I bought his new autobiographic book..."Learn Japanese in 7 Lessons" (Btw he's not really an author - he's a Taiwanese actor and model - and he is younger than me #%$*&!! but perving needs no age gap)..I did perv at it like there was no tomorrow...oh stop salivating woman!...he is so beautiful. PART ONE: How to commit indecencies at work..

And getting away with it.

First off it’s not what you think. Secondly these are only suggestions to get you out of those awkward situations.

1.) Farting at work
Admit it, we've all done it one time or another. That silent but violent release.....be it at your desk (or your colleauges) or by the printer....nonetheless you've commited the crime.
Let's take the printer scenario. What then? The stench is still lingering and you only have 2 seconds before your boss reaches his print outs. According to studies from a Japanese Game Show – the following is a no go:

- Walking forward. The cloud of invisible fart remains behind your bum. If you walk straight the fart cloud follows you due to the natural suction of your bottom.
- Using your arms to wave behind your butt in hope the smell will miraculously disappear. The science in this is it only causes the radius of the fart to grow which in turn means DANGER MISTER ROBINSON!
- Tell the boss you've discovered a new cologne. Yeah righ..not when I’m standing in your fart.
- Hide behind the office plant and leave your boss to fend the fart alone.

So what would you recommend? Well after countless human studies from the show, they concluded there was a way! Thank the lord we are saved!
- It uses what you call the ‘Crab walk technique’. Running on your side with your arms flapping will suck air into the cloud and cause the fart to disintegrate immediately.

eh? What's new?

Boredom is the new black over here..
I NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE I TURN INTO A TUBBY MONSTER!

Here's a few ideas I had in mind:

- Get my gum lines shaped
- Take up a dance class
- Start painting again
- Take pics for the blog! Since pics on blogs are WAYYYY more fun
- Become a super fan and stalk Mike He!
- Save up for a huge shopping spree in OZ
- Plan what to do for my week off..
- Ummm....start planning my wedding again...

That should keep me sane for a bit....

I bought myself an easel a few months ago. Haven't touched it ONCE..shites! As you can see I'm stingy with canvas boards (paints are very expensive these days).

Early Development stages.

She's coming to life.....but I didn't like the hair

I had to re-paint over the intial painting since

I flicked paint on her boobs and it just didn't turn out right.

Third attempt - I went all eco-friendly and repainted the

background green (nah not really)

and remodeled her boobies for fun...

Artist's nightmare!! I nearly gave up.

After 6 full hours and 5 layers of

paint.! Her nose looked awful...arghhh!!

And finally after many attempts and encouragement I favoured bolder colours and agressive shadows to give her that extra omph!! She turned out a lot funkier than intended!

BTW it's mum's b'day today~! So Happy Birthday mum! We'll celebrate with you in style...Love from P...

Supermarket Love?

There I was, caught in a queue at the checkout in Foodtown. My weak and gullible mind along with my soft heartedness came to feel sorry for my little brother who promised he would be studying the night away and was in dire need of a 6 pack muffin and a couple cans of V. Pfft I fell for it again!

Anyway while waiting I noticed something very unusual. What was that you ask? Hmm it was around 6:30ish on a Tuesday night – so typically I would expect a lot more ‘older’ folks to get their groceries done. But nope, not here, not now. This place was crammed with good looking young* people. Judging by my sharp observations, about 70% of shoppers was indeed single. Where’s your proof lady? Well there was the eye contact, the flirtatious smiles, the typical ‘I am single’ look and top that off with the continuous wander of the eye was a dead give away.

So while the checkout lady took her time scanning, I suddenly recalled a snippet from a news segment on Supermarket love. Now correct me if I’m wrong but from what I can vaguely remember there were a group of lads that would hang out at New World down by Victoria Park and try to get lucky with the sexy shoppers. Yes and also a bunch of bananas came into the picture, why? Don’t know.

But could it be that this phenomenon still holds some truth? Especially when more and more people are moving into the city apartments? Could supermarkets become the ultimate destination for love? I guess only if you live in the main mets. Ain’t gonna find no loving down in Puke (sorry D). xx bp

Weddings and what-nots

I went to a wedding today, my parent's-friend's-son’s wedding. It was a beautiful morning, the sun was out; autumn leaves danced around outside St Matthew’s. All was well. We waited for the ceremony to start as the guests shuffled in and took their seats. Finally the organ music took cue as the bride walked down the aisle in the arms of her parents. Cameras flashed, people smiled in anticipation while the groom looked lovingly at his future wife to be. The ceremony took a little less than 15 minutes. Vows were exchanged and finally the first kiss shared as husband and wife. Everyone cheered as they walked out of the church. It was definitely a special day for both them and their families.

Now the real reason why I’m writing this is simple. During my 2 hours at the ceremony I made some observations to certain things that got me a little fired up. What you say? What could possibly fire you up? Well, these are things that I would get all bride-zillared about at my own wedding (eek!). If you are attending or planning a wedding make sure you take note.

What not to do at weddings:

1.) Leaving your mobiles on. Ensure all guests mobile phones are set on silent. Dad’s phone rang during a critical moment! I know I gave him the evils for that, he even answered it! Double evils. If the ring tone was something sweet then that’ll reduce the embarrassment but if it was some sort of old school Chinese ring tone? Then I dare say no more. Triple evils.

2.) Talking during the ceremony. Now this is fine when you’re waiting to start but why can’t some people recognize the significance of shutting up during vows? A couple behind us kept talking – not whispering – talking while the bride and groom exchanged vows. And the topic was pure randomness. For god’s sake I bet the videographer captured their jabbering on dvd!

3.) Holding back a cough until you tear up. Yeah that was me. I was partially sick. Yes anyway I was trying so hard to hold back that I ended up tearing my eyes out. You know the feeling – the throat gets all itchy followed by several spasms of breath before your eyes fill with tears!!! No one was crying at the wedding except me for the wrong reasons.

4.) Leaving the camera sound on. What hacks me off are the little beeps when you're trying to navigate between functions or when people turn them on - off goes that welcome tune. When you're in a tranquil environment the 'little' beeping becomes a 'SHUT THAT ANNOYING THING OFF!' sound - It’s as bad as the mobile ringing or talking. And then every time you take a pic, it emits a loud snapping sound! Damn frustrating and yes it was dad's Sony Cybershot! It didn't help when the setting was in Chinese, how was I suppose to defuse the setting?!

5.) Attire choice of the day. This isn't something to complain about really but I thought I'd add this in. The closer you are to the bride & groom (or their family) - the more formal and lavish you dress on the day. It's true, when you invite people you hardly know they dress conservatively to prevent the 'stand out' effect. What's up with that?

Anyway that is all for now. I have yet to attend the reception which is tonight. So I will update my observations. All in good time. Notice that 3 out of the 5 came from me and my family - see no bias there. Xx bp

People - the learning's of the day..

1.) Never take your fiancé or partner to a reception if neither of you don't know the bride or groom. He will be bored and annoy the hell out of you. It will also embarrass the living daylights when he starts singing! Under no circumstance must you kick or punch him - he will retaliate with a loud 'Oww' which will attract unnecessary attention.

2.) If you're attending a Chinese banquet with a table full of strangers (old strangers) then try not to 'act' polite and let everyone else eat before you. Trust my wise words of wisdom it will be gone by the time the glass plate spins to your end. You will be the fool left with fish bones and chopped up lettuce...

...it was about time to finally get a proper blogging space and so I did.

This isn’t a personal attempt to salvage the meaning of online blabber chatter, but rather a place I can call home and to rant on freely about my thoughts to the world wide web. Yes I have an account on FB, MS, BB, FS but it’s just not as unique. They’re like cafes or restaurants you go to meet with your friends, or a stalkers club, a dating agency or an art gallery to showcase your narcissistic pics – nothing more nothing less.

Unlike here where I can write crap and no one will ever read it. Sweet I say. Crap on.

I recall the last time I started something like this was on a sister site…yes it was back in 04. It went on for a bit till my former boss told me he had read all my posts and thought it was very interesting! What a power stalker! Note to self – never ever write the name of your company when blogging to avoid management finding your jabber on Google (unless of course it’s note worthy and positive!).

That brings me to my first attempt – this was way before social network sites were huge and before blogging sites made their debut to cool people.. I know that’s amazing, I even did the whole she-bang with page layouts, photo-shopping and html coding (which I kindly must address have forgotten, shame on me) it wasn’t that long ago – I think it was back when I first got my digital camera. When was that sonny? Umm like at the end of 02. The site is still up and running which is amazing but I haven’t updated it since 07. More like a personal family site. So I won’t mention the addy just in case.

Then there was a period where I started reading other people’s spiel. The likes of lovely Dawn Yang, Yongfook, random Asian celebs and now what’s her name XiaXue. Yeah I know – I must be bored. But you know if living your life through others was something a very sad, no life person would do then to hell with blogging right? I mean these sites wouldn’t get over 20,000 hits a day if it wasn’t for us and they obviously wouldn’t have gotten so popular! So welcome to the club! You have us to thank for your online stardom.

Anyway I sort of vaguely remember two more attempts to blog my life away. But I caved into laziness and anxiety attacks about privacy issues (back two paragraphs) so I didn’t keep it for long. So what makes me so sure that I won’t cop out this time? Umm don’t know. Bloody hell it’s 3am already – maybe it’s a sign of dedication? Could be. Got to sleep. Got gym first thing so this concludes my first proper post..nice. xx bp.
